A fire destroyed some P 10 million worth of property in Makati City Thursday night.
As of 10:06 p.m. Thursday, Makati Fire Chief, Chief Inspector Samuel Tadeo said that they had not declared the fire out, as they wanted to ensure that there were no embers left in the building that might cause a rekindling of the blaze.
Initial reports showed that the fire started at 3:36 p.m at the kitchen area of a restaurant located at the ground floor of Campus Rueda Building located at Urvan Street, Makati City.
The fire reached Task Force Bravo before it was declared fire under control at 10:06 pm. Four persons, including two fire volunteers, were injured. Three were identified as Juniel Trajada, a cook; Ely Teja, a crew member, and Herbert Tuising, a fire volunteer.
Tadeo said that the fire was probably caused by a leak in an LPG, which eventually sparked and ignited an explosion.
The flames quickly spread towards the rest of the building, reaching as far as the third floor, as the building was already old, Tadeo explained. He added that they had a hard time putting the fire out as they could not penetrate deep into the building because they could not create holes to let some of the smoke seep out.
Five firetrucks remained on the scene to ensure that the fire would not rekindle
